Wasp

Description

A painted wasp, the so-called “common wasp” (Vespula Vulgaris), which occurs throughout Europe and as far as Japan. I have painted this fascinating insect naturalistically on an abstract background; a combination of foil technique and gold leaf application. It looks as if the wasp is eating the gold (this is intentional). Image size: 40×30 cm on stretcher frame. Belongs to my wildlife series > Insects!
