The Truth Calls Again is a large square oil painting showing an inviting, spiritual, autumn path through woodland and across fields. The viewer is propelled along the pathway past hedgerow and brambles but can see the trees and fields to the side. This painting is 40x40x1.5 inches. The technique I often use of blurring the paint at the edges, appears to pull the viewer onto the path that leads to whatever mystery and adventure lies beyond. It was inspired by a walk I took in November near Ide Hill (English North Downs) which goes through the ancient farmland and fields of Orbriss farm. On the left you can see the low hills of the Ashdown Forest area of Sussex. It was a late autumn scene and the sun was low in the sky and lighting up the last of the autumn leaves to rich golds, greens and reds. This particular view of the path caught my imagination as I could imagine it going to somewhere magical and not of this world at all. This kind of path is one of the main reasons I love to walk – there is a real allure to a path where you don’t know what is round the next bend or over the next hill.
