Styx

Triptych, each panel 85 x 85 cm. tempera and distemper on framed plywood panels.

Geometric compositions drawn from a pool of 210 images each of which is rendered as an etching.  From this source I have chosen some images that resonated with me sufficiently to turn into paintings and constructions. In the act of making these paintings, stories became attached to the work and titles were born. The stories and titles compounded each other and fed back into the work suggesting  the colours, materials and appropriate techniques. If there is a theme to this collection it would be one of transience and impermanence, you could say the style is a kind of sentimental geometry.
