“Red Woman”

“Red Woman” Acrylic – 120 x 85 cm

I must have thousands of hours of drawing live models. It’s the basis of my training. And from looking at them so much, you get to know, or think you know, the person in front of you. After a while, what interests me is taking them out of their personal lives and placing them in another place or dimension, where the arbitrariness of society doesn’t limit them. That’s how I generally feel that women become exuberant, dominant, if you will, and men play a secondary role, unless there are no women. Perhaps I’m very influenced by Robert Graves and his “White Goddess”!
The technique is simple. I draw the live models, often in motion, and capture the essence of the painting. The rest is playing with the sensations of color without losing the harmony of the stroke, that is, the rhythm.
