Description

‘The Passage’ is an oil painting, applied with the exclusive help of the spatula, which gives the work the appearance of a colourful high relief, vibrant and textural at the same time.

The scene is traversed by the march of a procession of grey, dark soldiers on horseback in armour, escorting a sumptuous carriage, which bursts overbearingly into the colourful, lively forest, the work’s protagonist, depicted by trees and bushes with the sky in the background.

In other words, it is Nature, brought to life by the virtuoso rainbow of the palette, which is broken up by the grey, industrious and polluting activities of man, thus bringing back a topical theme such as the felling of forests and the defacement of landscapes, its arrogant master

man is best expressed by the baroque, carnivalesque, colourful and rich carriage, almost as if to throw its colours back to the grey soldiers.

The natural landscape also closes in the background together with the sky and envelops the work with the procession because inevitably the human being is part of it and lives in it day after day, taking advantage of its characteristics and virtuosity.
