Chief Black Bear was a Native American Sioux Chief who lived on the plains of North America in the 19th Century. The Chiefs were the General, the President, the Leader of the tribe. I dreamed I was called to a Council of Chiefs who asked me to paint 12 Chiefs in full regalia and paint barren landscapes to hang along with the Chiefs to represent the plight of the Native Americans in the last 300 years,
