The deep, pensative look in the dark eyes suggest that a whole world is going on behind them. The stark division of the image in the dominating colours red, black, beige and white can be seen as a symbol for the contrasts  that this woman experiences in life. How can we deal with the contrasts within our own inner life? What do the 4 elements mean to you personally? 

The face is painted in oil, over a foundation of news paper collage. There are different languages, scripts even, that depict the rich background and the different layers that make up the landscape of our life.
